About CommuteCompanion |
- Who are we?
- CommuteCompanion is for all UK commuters. It is designed to assist commuters by helping them
link up with one another via a community networking platform. Established by commuters just like you - CommuteCompanion
is about sharing your experiences. As fellow commuters we understand that there are highs and lows about the time you spend
commuting daily to your workplace - so we have established a place where commuters can share the pain and frustration of
commuting in the UK. We think it's time to put a little fun back into that daily journey - and that is what CommuteCompanion
is all about!
It doesn't matter if you do your daily commute on the train, tube, bus or tram - whether by car, motorbike, cycling or walking.
Every one of us who has to undertake that daily travel should have a chance to share their experiences and their journey.
CommuteCompanion is about helping those of us who undertake the daily commute reconnect with fellow commuters.
CommuteCompanion offers those travelling on trains, tubes and buses with a chance to share the journey with someone from their local area.
If you take the car - get involved in carpooling. If you've always wanted to cycle, but never felt comfortable on your own - now you have
a chance to travel with a cycling companion. No matter what the situation you are in - this is a chance for you to reconnect with local people in
your community so that you can inject a little 'life' into the daily commute. See below for examples on how this can be helpful to you if you are
are commuter in UK
- CommuteCompanion on the train
- Catching the train has become like riding in an elevator - everyone jammed into a small space, but no one making eye contact!
If you'd like to spend some of those long commute hours bantering with a commuting companion, then that's precisely how CommuteCompanion
can help you. You can chat with someone that rides your train from you local area. Have a friendly face at the end of a hard day. Talk with
someone over a coffee or friendly Friday pint after work until your transport arrives. There are so many ways in which you can benefit with
this innovative idea - it is really just up to you to take the first step and start connecting with others.
- Car CommuteCompanion
- If you travel to your destination by car, then don't spend hours in traffic waiting to get to work in the slow lane - why not use CommuteCompanion to
find a carpooling partner and make the trip that bit shorter. Not only will you have someone to chat with to pass the time - you'll also have access to
faster lanes that are restricted to people who carpool. This is a great opportunity to liven up that daily drive, PLUS you can be a part of a greener
way of getting to work.
There are some 18 million people on UK roads each day and approximately 414,945 commuters have so far signed up with the various national car-sharing schemes in the UK.
If you want to make your trip to work 'greener', but you don't know anyone to share the ride with - then CommuteCompanion provides you with a way to change that.
We're serious about greening the planet and restoring a stronger sense of community. Sign Up Now with us for FREE, and you'll have
a way to find commuters in your area - so you can car pool to work and do your bit for the planet. As an added bonus you'll have a way to meet other people in your local community - all while
saving money on the cost of travel!
- Cycling, Buses and Tube (London) CommuteCompanions
- CommuteCompanion wants every commuter to participate, across a broad range of daily transport options. Cycling to work doesn't have to be a solitary slog, instead you can find someone who can
accompany you and help you let off some steam when those pesky motorists cut you off! On buses and tubes, you can meet up with people from your area who are travelling the same lines and routes as you.
That means you have a way to while away the time on the daily journey and you may also find these people from your local area have a lot in common with you.
- Redevelop a sense of community in the commuters you meet
- CommuteCompanion hopes to use the commute as a 'common ground' over which people in local community members can connect and begin to build networks in those communities. Why stop at the commute?
If you form friendships with those people you spend your commute time with, then this could be the basis for the development of valuable links to others in the local community. Your commute could be extended
to share a 'school run', the occasional trip to the grocery store or sharing a cab. If you use this as an opportunity, you could start to become more familiar with those local faces you see on the train and at
your supermarket - deepening your sense of community and connection to those around you. We want to also make local information including specific travel news, details of local events and promotions readily available
to all commuters across the UK by forming synergies with exiting bodies that provide this information already.
Our hope is that this network will be a place where commuters have a strong voice. Ultimately, with your input, we hope that the views expressed here will contribute positively to the UK Transport Policy debate.
By getting involved, you can discuss and share your opinions about the changes needed to facilitate and ease your commute to work.
ComuteCompanion is your place to connect with commuters, form groups and find road-buddies to help you get more enjoyment from the daily commute to work.
