How do I register?

All you need to register is a valid email address. You will need a screen name, your first and last name and your date of birth. We will send an email to your email address for confirmation. Your registration will be complete only after you confirm your email address. After the email confirmation, you will be required to complete your profile so other commuters can easily identify your preferences.

How do I log-in?
Once you have registered you can use your email address and chosen password to log into CommuteCompanion.
How do I edit my profile and settings?
You can update your profile and preferences by clicking on the option “update profile” at anytime. Under profile updates, you can change your password, select a profile image and upload your personal photos to be used as a profile image. Do not forget to click the “Update Details” button once you have finished. Under the “Picture Gallery” you can change your security settings to allow your pictures to be viewed only by your companions.
How do I view my messages?
When a fellow commuter sends you a message you will be informed via email immediately. You can then log in and view this message under “My Messages”.
How do I add a Companion?
When a fellow commuter sends you a message, you can add the person to your list of companions. You can set your settings to allow only your companions to view your photo gallery.
How do I create my photo gallery?
Use “View my Gallery” to start your gallery. Upload all pictures that illustrate your commute and other pictures you would like to share with other commuters. Use the “Edit Privacy Settings” to change your security settings. This will restrict you gallery only to your companions or allow general public access to your gallery.
How do I select a profile image?
Under Update Profile, select the option “Select profile image” and choose from the collection of avatars we have made available for your use. Alternatively you can upload your personal photo by selecting “Upload Personal Photo”.
How do I upload my personal photo?
If you want to upload your personal photo to let other commuters know you, select the option “Upload Personal Photo” to attach your photo. Use the browse button to select the suitable photo from your personal computer or alternative drive. Photos should be less than 3MB else they will be rejected. You can also give the photo a caption if you wish to. Ensure photos are appropriate in context and do not infringe the CommuteCompanion T&Cs. Photos that are considered inappropriate will be removed and users banned from the site.
How do I send a public message?
Public messages are messages for the general community and will be sorted according to your travel stations. You can view public messages relevant to you when you log in. To view general public messages, use the “view public messages” tab and post your message relating to any incident, people or other issues that affected your journey for that day.
How can I change my privacy settings?
Only your Commuter buddies can view your detailed profile. Your names, D.O.B, email address and phone number will not be displayed. Your Personal Gallery can be viewed only by your commuter buddies. You can however opt to change your gallery settings to make your personal photos accessible accordingly, either to you only, your fellow Commuter Buddies or to the general public.
How will be public message be displayed?
Public messages are filtered and target-displayed to ensure your message is easily viewed by the other commuters who travel similar routes with you. You can thus reach your fellow commuters buddies easily and establish a community around where you live through your communications using the public messages.
How do I report abuse?
Please use our feedback area to report any abuse of your privacy or our T&Cs indicating the nature of the abuse.
How do I delete my account?
Please use our feedback area stating briefly why you decided to unsubscribe.
Who do I pick as a Commuter buddy?
Make sure you have reviewed the profile of your buddy and ensure you pick a suitable buddy who will grace your journey to work every day. Also enter your start town and working town to enable commuters offering or requiring car rides to know your preferences and link up with you
If I do not need a Commuter buddy can I use the website?
By sharing information about your commute and letting other commuter know the issues that affect you are providing valuable information on commuter patterns in the UK. This will benefit other commuters, yourself and UK Transport Policy. You also have the opportunity to find people in your neighbourhood who are interested in a sense of belonging to your community. Why not join us and tap into this potential resource which promotes community interaction, bring your local services and shops closer to you makes commuting worthwhile.
I commute by car, how can I get fellow commuters for car-share?
Register with us and make it clear in your profile. Put up a message requesting for car-share including your destination. Alternatively you can use can use existing car-share platforms to register your interest in car-sharing.
