get in touch, know people in their local areas, build relationships, car share, network
with like minded people and establish local communities. We have developed this
Privacy Policy to inform you of our practices and policies and how we use the Personal
Information you submit to CommuteCompanion "www.CommuteCompanion.com" herewith referred to
as website or interactive platform in this context.
CommuteCompanion (“CommuteCompanion”, “we” or “us”)operated by Traincompanion Ltd
do take seriously the privacy of users of its website. Unless otherwise stated within the
policy, capitalized terms shall have meanings assigned to such terms in the CommuteCompanion
Terms of Service, which incorporates this Privacy Policy by reference.
Your "Personal Information" within the context of this Privacy Policy refers to
information about you that personally identifies you, like your name or e-mail
address, as well as other non-public information that is associated with these.
"Anonymous Information" generally refers to information that is not associated with
or linked to your Personal Information; Anonymous Information does not permit the
identification of individual persons. We collect and use Personal Information and
Anonymous Information as described in this Privacy Policy.

- By submitting your Personal Information through our Website, you agree to the terms
of this Privacy Policy and expressly consent to the processing of your Personal
Information according to this Privacy Policy. We will not forward your email address,
date of birth or any other private details of your profile to third parties not
associated with the services we offer users of this website. We will however use
this information to provide information that may be beneficial e.g. your location
and connecting stations will be useful in providing information to other users of
the same connections and local information at these stations that may be useful
to you.

- Personal Information voluntarily submitted to us via our website is collected to
provide you with the services you require as laid out in “About Us”.
- On registration with CommuteCompanion©, we will collect your name, e-mail address,
your gender, date of birth, and profession where necessary for any
services we offer including your departing and arriving stations or towns and postal code
to help us provide you with local and specific information you may require. Your
name, date of birth and email address will not be displayed to other users of the website at
anytime and you will not be given the opportunity to display this information to other “Companions”
at any time.
- Any such information saved in your profile will also be collected to facilitate
matching you to your preferred potential commuter companion(s).
- Personal Information also posted in other features provided by CommuteCompanion© e.g.
Public Messages and Forums will be collected ("Publicly Posted Information"). You
are however advised to deceit from posting any personal information e.g. emails,
phone numbers, postal address, bank details and NI number in any public messages.
CommuteCompanion© will not be held liable whatsoever to any incidents that may occur
as a result of your private information being made public to other users of the
website either intentionally or unintentionally. We have made provisions to ensure
that you do not unknowingly make your private information public. We will also not
be held liable if you choose to make your private information known to your new
found companion.
- When you contact us by sending us an e-mail, we will collect your e-mail addresses
and any information contained in the e-mail you send us. Your email address will
however not be forwarded to third parties, it will be used as a medium for contact
where necessary especially for service information and updates to the website.
- Information automatically collected includes IP addresses, browser information and
cookies which we use to optimise our services to you. You can however change your
internet browser settings to protect this information.
On registration and signing into the CommuteCompanion© network, you are not anonymous
to us. If you are browsing the Website without registering with CommuteCompanion,
you are anonymous to us and we cannot help you with services tailored to your needs.
- Use of information
- A selection of attributes of your profile can be viewed by any visitor of the CommuteCompanion.
Such information will include your “Username”, your “Relationship Status”, your
“Profession”, your “Gender” and “Travelling Stations/Towns”. You however have the opportunity
to control what part of your profile information and photos is visible to visitors
of the CommuteCompanion website and to your “companions” in the private gallery settings.
In order to provide you with some of the features that the CommuteCompanion community
offers to its members, we may use Personal Information that is stored in your profile
after you have requested such features, for example to send invitation e-mails to
other commuters within the CommuteCompanion community, updates and other special announcements.
We may also use some information provided in your profile to provide useful information
about social networking services to other commuters who might be interested in joining
the CommuteCompanion community.
When you use certain features of the CommuteCompanion network (like Messaging, forums
and the public message boards), some of the Personal Information you entered into
your CommuteCompanion profile and any information, including Personal Information,
that you enter using one of these features, might be used and displayed. Your name
and email address will however never be displayed unless you type this into the
Public Message. We will not be held liable for this as you are clearly advised to
be cautious about the type of personal information you place on the website.
Members of the CommuteCompanion community can use the “Search Profile” feature to
search for other members using different criteria, like train station or gender.
The Personal Information that CommuteCompanion members enter into their profile will
be used for these searches to facilitate the process of matching you with potential
companions for car sharing or train travel to work. Please bear in mind that any information “publicly” posted
throughout the CommuteCompanion network is accessible to every visitor of the website.
CommuteCompanion may analyse any information collected for its own purposes. In addition,
CommuteCompanion will also remove information that can be considered as sensitive
personally identifying information to render them anonymous to protect your web
privacy. We may also use anonymous information for any purpose and may also disclose
anonymous information where deemed necessary.
- Information Sharing and Disclosure
- We at CommuteCompanion do not rent, sell, or share personal information about you
with other people or non-related companies except to provide products or services
you've requested, when we have your permission, or as otherwise described by our
privacy policy.
We may also provide your Personal Information to third party service providers who
work on our behalf under confidentiality agreements to provide some of the services
and features of the CommuteCompanion community and to help us communicate with CommuteCompanion
members. This information may be used by the service providers to facilitate communication
with you about offers from CommuteCompanion and its partners. The service providers
however do not possess the independent right to share this information with any
other third parties.
Occasionally, we may also provide information to third-party advertising companies.
Please be aware that the handling of your Personal Information by our partners or
the third-party advertising companies is governed by their privacy policy, not ours.
We however make sure that their privacy policy is conformant with ours.

If our company or our assets are acquired by another company, that company will

the terms and conditions under which we operated.
In exceptional circumstances where deemed necessary, we will share personal information
with the Police or Train Operating Companies for criminal investigations or for
the sake of public safety.

- CommuteCompanion the trading name of Traincompanion Ltd is a private company
with no affiliations to the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) or
PassengerFocus the official voice of UKs rail commuters;
- Our polls and user comments are to be used for interactive purposes only in the
CommuteCompanion community and should not be considered as the official view of commuters
in the UK;
- All information provided by you are strictly for interactive purposes only; we will
co-operate with authorities when need arises;
- Complaints about your journeys “Train Pains & Joys” are strictly for interactive
purposes; although we may share this information with the authorities when need
arises to improve on your commute;
- We will not be held liable for events that may occur when you meet people using
our services. You will be solely responsible for your actions and hence we advise
you to be cautious about who you meet and where.
- We do not accept any responsibility or liability for any circumstance that may result
as a consequence of information (in any form) published by users of this website
